Newspaper Star

Who would have guessed I would ever marry someone famous?!

A few weeks ago Grady casually mentioned to me that he had been interviewed by a reporter at work that day--something about what it's like to be a foreigner working in Germany. Who knew that he would turn out to be the star of the article!

So when I realized the implications of his words--the fact that because he was interviewed (and "had a couple photos taken too" he casually added) he would probably be quoted in the weekend paper--we stopped at the next minimart we came to to pick up a copy. I started flipping through the pages, scanning each page closely as to not miss it. I gasped when I finally flipped to the middle of the paper to find...

Yes. The article about foreign workers in the German engineering company, ZMD. And a picture of Grady that took up HALF THE PAGE, not to mention a couple great quotes from him (my favorite was, "I like to travel to Poland and the Czech Republic"--so random in the middle of this engineering article!). The picture I've posted here is actually practically the same size as Grady's face in real life! We've all had a good laugh and Grady's been able to relax again now that his company's taken the article down from every bulletin board at work. Oh the life of a celebrity...

Night Sky

"When I look at your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have sent in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?"
-Psalm 8:4

Tonight I looked up
with both eyes wide
and saw my Father
looking back

Tonight I glanced heavenward
only for a minute
and saw into eternity

The clear night sky
sprinkled with incomprehensibility
remind me how
insignificant my life is

But how much He still cares

All because I happened to look up.

And the only thing left
on my heart
is
"Thank you."

New Life

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, behold, the new has come." -2 Corinthians 5:17

Spring has finally arrived in Dresden and we are all welcoming the warm sun and flowering trees with joy. It has been a long time coming—the chill of winter hung on for much longer than usual.

Walking through the park, seeing the beginning of life newly surfacing, brings up such feelings of renewel and fresh motivation to continue growing. A fitting reminder of the new life we take on every moment we turn back to Christ and re-submit to him as Lord. What a needed encouragement-!

Another beautiful cause to celebrate this newness of life is the arrival of Annemarie Tabea Rössel. She is the first "native German" baby to be born in the Dresden church. She is now eight weeks old and growing and learning new things every day, like dazzling us all with her precious smile and sounds. What a miracle she is, as all babies are!

So, life in Dresden continues to flourish in many ways, by the Lord’s hand. May we ever recognize the new blossoms out of the deadness of winter, the miraculous birth of a child, and our renewed life in Christ, giving thanks to God for it all.
