In gearing up for impending labor and delivery, I'd like to throw a couple questions out there for those who have gone before.
What helped you most when you gave birth?
If you could do it over again, what would you do the same?
Is there anything you would do differently?
What do you wish you had known beforehand?
I really am just curious what different women's experiences have been and since there's really no way to ask everyone in person I thought I'd try it here. Please don't hesitate to ask your mom or friends who are moms and share their thoughts if you aren't one yourself--I'd like to just collect a bunch of answers and the more the better! And no pressure to answer all four questions--answering even just one will really help.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for participating, I am excited to read about your reflections on giving birth!

I was actually talking to my mom at the phone and she mentioned something she told me before: My parents had to move to another appartment very close to the date I was supposed to be born and she did a lot of work like peeling off the wallpaper etc. That took so much of her energy that she had not enough power left when her time came to give birth. So she had a very, very hard time and her advice for you is to take care, and relax...! Beside this specific gymnastics (for pregnant ladies)are helpful to strenghen those parts of the body that are important during the process of birth. But I am sure your doctor already told you something about that. So far what my Mom said. Let ME tell you: I will PRAY for you, that giving birth will be another wonderful and inspiring experience of your (marriage/family) life, as easy as possible...!
I am not sure, but I remember that I was delivered by C-section. So, my mom's favourite thing was the epi-dural!
She did it again, and had a C-section again [my brother was 2lbs heavier]. I do recall she once said that she and the other lady that got C-sections couldn't believe how quickly those that gave natural birth healed, compared to her month long ordeal.
Hope that helps a bit.
Good Idea Allison! :)
First of all, I don't know that you can ever truly know what to expect LOL ~ how's that for encouraging!
I pray that your labor and delivery goes very well for you!
Here's a few tips:
I drink Raspberry Leaf Tea (look it up on the interenet regarding pregnancy, there's some interesting stuff) ~ It helps strengthen the uterus....I honestly think it has helped me! And you could start drinking it now! (if you want)
stay calm during the labor
walk, walk, during labor
if available, sometimes the shower head on your belly feels good during labor
breathe breathe breathe calmly during labor
the pain gets bad, but there is such a huge relief and awesome feeling when your little one enters the world!
Hmmmm, that's all I have for now.....might think of more later :) Hope this helps a little. Will you be taking any prenatal classes?
Well, I just commented on your facebook earlier telling you I needed to see some fat pictures! YAY! I found them! I'm so glad you're feeling and doing great! I know that my nephew is so super fun, and I can't even imagine if he were my own! You are going to be such a great mother! Have a fun time with it all - I can't believe you're already experiencing one of the greatest joys of life!!! God bless and we're thinking about you in the months ahead!! Kelsey and Derek
