Who Needs Sleep

There's nothing like a little sleep deprivation to throw you through some loops, especially as a new and hesitant parent with such a tiny person relying solely on your care and protection-! Everything in the last month has become a little bit more challenging simply because when one is tired, normal things become much harder to deal with. But in general we're really settling in well to our new rhythm and life is finally taking on more of what is becoming a familiar pace and routine. Caitlin is growing and changing noticably every day and it's so fun to see her start to respond more and develop a little bit more of her personality. But that doesn't change how true this cartoon is--I can't help but laugh at it!So if you have the wonderful luxury of full nights of uninterrupted sleep don't take it for granted!! That some of us could be so lucky...

More Fun from Saturday

Best Friends

Yesterday we met with two other couples from our birth prep class who have also since given birth. Mirja (right) was born the same day (and almost the same time!) as Caitlin, and tiny Marcus (center) came a week later to the day. How cute to see three tiny babies all together--at one point yesterday all six parents were standing around the bed just watching the babies sleep-! Don't ask me why it's so enthralling, but it is!

And I had to include this picture--it's one of my favorite Caitlin faces!

Hands and Feet, Fingers and Toes

There are so many cute and wonderful things about tiny little Caitlin, but my favorite has to be her teeny hands and feet. They are so small but perfect! Everyone who sees her fingers and toes comments on how long they are...hmm perhaps we have a future musician in the making? Here's hoping!

I love kissing her feet everytime I partially undress her to change her diaper (which is about 7-8 times a day right now...that's a lot of wet wipes-! [and feet kisses!]).

What a blessing from the Lord, that we can witness his intricate design in her!

Won't You Be My Neighbor, Part Deux

The architecture in Europe in general has always been one of my favorite things about being here and our neighborhood has its share of beautiful craftsmanship. The otherwise more normal seeming buildings on street corners are all ornately topped with sky-reaching towers, adding a touch of sophistication and artistry.


Also, there are some amazingly decorative gates! Talk about beautiful design!


And Albertplatz is five minutes walking distance away--it's a hub where many different tram lines cross and so it's always bustling with people and activity. There are two massive, beautiful fountains on either side of the tram tracks--a calming break from the otherwise hectic pace of life there. Unfortunately the picture doesn't even begin to do it justice.

First Week Fun
